Trent Reznor Tells Fans Not To “Waste Money” On CD

Myspace, USA: Musicians typically want audiences to buy their music, but we’re also pretty sure Trent Reznor has never been called “typical.” In that spirit he took to the Internet a few days ago to tell fans not to buy a newly packaged version of Nine Inch Nails’ 1989 breakthrough release Pretty Hate Machine.
.
Reznor wrote on his twitter page, which has nearly a million followers, “NIN fans, don’t waste your money on this version of PHM that was just released … a record label bullshit move repackaging the old version. Ignore please.” He also included a link to the full packaging layout on the band’s discography page.
.
But before you take Pretty Hate Machine out of your virtual shopping cart, you should be aware that Reznor is referring to a brand new edition of the album with slightly varied artwork, which shouldn’t be confused with a remastered version of Pretty Hate Machine which was released last November. Still considering that the disc was out of print from 1997 to 2005, we figure it couldn’t hurt to have too many versions of it floating around for those of you who don’t already own a copy. (Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone.) -Jonah Bayer
